Hey lovely people! How are you? This post has been a long time coming and I am so excited to share with you my Shaken book review. Here’s the thing, it has been more than a book to me. This is not some post about sharing another book review and then for you to move on, this is more than that. Let’s start from the one evening where all of this began.
So one night I saw something online that the publishing company of this book was looking for people to join Tim’s book launch team. If you know me and what I love to do, then you know that I was all for this. I filled out the form and gave my pitch on what I can contribute to this team. As a bunch of strangers came together to read the book before it hit shelves and then in return give their review on it, life got crazy for me. This is the good kind of crazy, the one where Jesus obviously mapped out all of these steps, that simply started out with a simple collaboration in filling out that from one night.
Before I get to the all of the cool stuff, (Hang in there) let me tell you about something else. So the famous name Tim Tebow is known everywhere right? If you don’t know who he is, thats okay. I know for a fact some of you girls don’t care about football or sports and thats okay too! Here’s the thing, just know that this guy shines Jesus from the top of his head to the soles of his feet. I have never been the “fan girl” type but I will fully fan girl over Jesus who gives his children platforms to further his name.
Okay, let’s move on. So I get the book in the mail and before I know it, it’s 1:00 A.M. in the morning and I am halfway done with the book. If you know me, I don’t read for fun and I don’t stay up that late, (old souls, hello)! The next day, my mom and I headed about 2 hours south to get some shots of Tim playing baseball to include in this Shaken story. Here are some below!
Here is what I have been dying to share. Ready? This book brought me to meet the sweetest soul and new friend named, JP. I know that doesn’t sound climactic but hear me out. Remember, I was halfway done and needed to finish the book to “review” it fully on this blog post. Jesus surely is funny but so cool because the new owner of that book is JP. I’ll share his story a little more later.
He can’t read yet having a book in his hands lit up his world while meeting his hero, Tim.
That’s what this is book is about, the hero in Tim’s life, Jesus.
Simple. Real. Raw. Vulnerable.
Forget hollywood in lights, Jesus will forever be in lights.
Fast forward, a friend of mine tells me to send an email over to find out more info in going to the Philippines with Bob Tebow and a team. I can’t share enough how much this book opened my eyes up to opportunity and blessings if I just sat. I didn’t know then that he usually just takes people in January and summer, but this time he had opened it up in November. He accepted my application and bam, I was going to the Philippines for 2 weeks to share the gospel.
Back to another form okay? I wanted to finish the rest of the book and still don’t have the second copy in my hands as well as other members on this book launch team. I sent a message and in this waiting process, Jesus changed things.
For the good.
Here I was trying to raise over $3,000 to head the Philippines while the guy with this book needs something bigger. Remember JP? He needs a $20,000 chair to live a fuller life as he wants a job, more self esteem and just to help his mom take care of him daily. (HERO)
Jesus reminded me, ” I am not limited. I am all powerful and will surpass your goal of $3k.”
So here I was, bummed out that I couldn’t raise funds for this mission trip, yet he reminded me again that “I” do not do that. HE DOES.
He has completely refocused my efforts in giving my fundraising over to this sweet soul that I met on one normal day. That stranger with an unfinished book in hand has now become a lesson, a prayer answered and one faithful Jesus confirming to me that he is faithful even when I feel bummed.
That’s the thing, just like this unfinished book that I have yet to read, Jesus knows what it’s all about. Ya hear me? Your story, your life, and that empty feeling that you’re going though, he knows all about it. The book is not done and neither is your story. He wants your eyes on him and your heart in tune with him. He knows your future and most importantly knows all of those pages that you have already “read” and loves you anyways no matter how dented or torn they may be.
If you want to know what half of the book I did get to read was about, here it is:
Jesus sees you, knows you, and loves you through the dirt and all of your successes. No high or low in your life will ever change that. People are forever important and that includes you.
Go get Shaken and just watch what Jesus reveals to you from the words of Tim.
You are loved,
as always, xoxo
