Ladies. Daughters of the most high king. Have you actually seen yourself without any makeup, or your hair done? I know some of you girls are in makeup 24/7 and when you remove it all at nighttime you don’t see yourself long enough, to see “you” without a covering before you head off to sleep. This is me. No makeup, no covering, no hiding, and nothing special for me but to show myself as my creator meant for it to be. Here, I am vulnerable as can be.
Celebs are rarely seen without makeup? Are you the same way?
I didn’t start to wear any makeup until I was a junior in high school. When I would wear it, It was simple. It consisted of concealer for “impurities” and some mascara to make my eyes “pop.” If anything more, I would sweat it off at basketball practice. I was blessed with clear skin but still struggled with self-esteem. In all of middle school and high school, being bullied did not help that issue. You would think I would of been covered in makeup to hide, but I did this in other ways. So let me ask you ladies. Why are you wearing makeup?
You need to know that you are all together beautiful. Proverbs 31:30- Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
Makeup is a great thing, don’t get me wrong. It can be a way to accentuate your traits but should never been used to hide those. As a cosmetologist I have seen nothing but “made-up” women walk in to get something else worked on. For me, makeup has always seemed more like a way to gain an instant confidence boost. I choose to wear it because I feel good knowing I’ve invested in my self-presentation. Plus, I like that makeup can also function as an outlet for creativity. IT SHOULD NEVER BE AN OUTLET TO HIDE.
Girls, just know that your beauty on the outside will wither away and what is left is exactly who you always were. Is your heart plastered with “makeup” or is your heart a clean slate with bumps and bruises that you aren’t ashamed of. I am no where near perfect. God has revealed himself to me in ways of the explainable. There is no greater feeling of embracing exactly who you were meant to be a look like. I long for the day where the magazines are plastered with women who have not been retouched.
Girls, you are stunning and no makeup will ever change that. NOTHING. This world tells you that image is what you should be focused on but the most beautiful people in the world are REAL. Once you grasp the concept that you were made in the image of God, your eyes will be opened to see yourself with how YOUR CREATOR sees you.
Christ did not call us to hide what he already claimed to be PERFECT.
HE has made everything beautiful in its time, and that my dear is YOU.
Now go, take time and go see yourself WHOLE and look at the mirror makeup-less and that image reflecting back at you is BEAUTIFUL.
The saying “Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder,” goes to say that defining beauty can be tough. However, God’s words can lead us to discover what our individual meaning of beauty truly is and should be; that is deter from looking at physical appearance for God looks at the heart in all people and things.
YOUR BEAUTY SHINES FOR THE WORLD TO SEE.
COME AS YOU ARE.
